Charles W. Bailey Jr. M.D.
Charles W. Bailey, Jr., MD, a third-generation physician, brings to TMA a record of excellence and participation in organized medicine for his tenure as president of the association in its sesquicentennial year.
Dr. Bailey received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1967, after earning a bachelor of arts degree at The University of Texas at Austin. He served his internship at Memorial Baptist Hospital in Houston and his residency in the city's Hermann Hospital under the auspices of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School. Dr. Bailey also has achieved honors from the American Board of Medical Examiners in surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics.
Dr. Bailey also graduated from South Texas College of Law where he was Assistant Editor of the Law Review. He has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1980.
Dr. Bailey has practiced plastic surgery in Houston since 1973. Town & Country Magazine named him as one of the top cosmetic surgeons in the United States and one of the top five cosmetic surgeons in Houston. He was been listed in Best Doctors in America, Central Region, for six consecutive years.
In his more than 30 years as a member of TMA, Dr. Bailey has served the association in many roles. He has been a member of the TMA Board of Trustees for four years, including service on the group's executive committee. He also has worked with numerous TMA committees and is a delegate to the American Medical Association.
In addition, Dr. Bailey has held the office of president in various other medical societies, including the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Academy of Medicine. He also is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and of the International College of Surgeons (FICS).
Dr. Bailey's reputation has resulted in appointments by the state of Texas to the Texas Medical Disclosure Panel and appointments by the Texas Supreme Court to the Supreme Court Jury Task Force. As a recognized expert in plastic surgery, Dr. Bailey lectures extensively from coast to coast to other plastic surgeons, government agencies, and civic organizations. He also is adjunct assistant professor of neurophysiology and anatomy at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston Medical School.
Dr. Bailey is a surgeon at The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery in Houston. He and his wife, Sue, reside in Houston.
